Importing PDR Recordings

How do I import recordings from my PDR on an Android device?

From a cloud storage account

The easiest way to get Performance Data Recorder (PDR) recordings onto your device is using one of the supported cloud storage providers for Android: Google Drive, OneDrive, and Dropbox.
  1. Upload the PDR recordings from your SD card to your preferred cloud storage account.
  2. Download the PDR recordings to your Android device.
  3. Open AliveDrive Race on your device, sign in and select the Import PDR files option from the menu.
  4. Follow the on-screen instructions.

Using a Mac

  1. On your Mac, download and install the Android File Transfer tool provided by Google.
  2. From Launchpad, open the Android File Transfer tool.
  3. Connect your Android device to your Mac with a USB cable. You may need to allow access to your Android device when prompted, or switch to a file transfer mode. This differs per device, but is usually done by interacting with a notification.
    A window should appear with the contents of your Android device.
  4. In Finder, navigate to the SD card and select the recordings you want to transfer to your Android device.
  5. Drag the recordings to the DCIM folder on your Android device.
  6. Wait for the recordings to finish copying and disconnect the device from your Mac.
  7. Open AliveDrive Race on your device, sign in and select the Import PDR files option from the menu.
  8. Follow the on-screen instructions.

Using a Windows PC

  1. Insert the SD card into your computer and open it in File Explorer.
  2. Select the recordings you wish to transfer to your Android device, right click and select Copy.
  3. Connect your Android device to your PC with a USB cable. You may need to allow access on your Android device when prompted, or switch to a file transfer mode. This differs per device, but is usually done by interacting with a notification.
  4. In File Explorer, navigate to your device -> Internal Storage -> DCIM.
  5. Paste the recordings into this directory.
  6. Wait for the recordings to finish copying and disconnect the device from your PC.
  7. Open AliveDrive Race on your device, sign in and select the Import PDR files option from the menu.
  8. Follow the on-screen instructions.

Using an SD card reader

Videos can be imported on Android phones by using a USB SD card reader and the appropriate cable or adapter to attach it to your device.
  1. Insert the SD card into the SD card reader and connect it to your Android device.
  2. Drag down the notifications bar from the top of the screen and select the USB drive notification. The exact appearance of this notification will differ between devices.
  3. If prompted, open with the Files app.
  4. Navigate to the DCIM folder and select the videos you wish to transfer to your device by pressing and holding on them.
  5. From the menu, select Copy to....
  6. The app will switch to the Downloads folder on your device, but if it doesn't then browse to it using the menu.
  7. Press Copy and wait the videos to copy to your device.
  8. Remove the SD card reader from your device.
  9. Open AliveDrive Race on your device, sign in and select the Import PDR files option from the menu.
  10. Follow the on-screen instructions.

How do I import recordings from my PDR on an iOS device?

From a cloud storage account

The easiest way to get Performance Data Recorder (PDR) recordings onto your device is using one of the supported cloud storage providers for iOS: iCloud, OneDrive, Google Drive, and Dropbox.
  1. Upload the PDR recordings from your SD card to your preferred cloud storage account.
  2. Download the PDR recordings on your iOS device.
  3. Open AliveDrive Race on your device, sign in and select the Import PDR files option from the menu.
  4. Follow the on-screen instructions.

Using a Mac

  1. Insert the SD card into your computer and double click on the SD card icon on your deskop.
  2. Either connect your iPhone or iPad to your Mac computer with a USB cable
    - or -
    if you have previous enabled the "Show this iPhone/iPad when on Wi-Fi" option then ensure the iPhone or iPad has WiFi enabled.
  3. From the top menu, press File and select New Finder Window.
  4. Select your device under Locations from the left pane.
  5. Switch to the Files tab.
  6. Select your recordings from the SD card and drag them to the AliveDrive Race item.
  7. Wait until all your recordings appear under the AliveDrive Race item and disconnect your iPhone or iPad from your Mac.
  8. Open AliveDrive Race on your device, sign in and select the Import PDR files option from the menu.
  9. Follow the on-screen instructions.

Using a Windows PC

  1. Insert the SD card into your computer and open it in File Explorer.
  2. Select the recordings you wish to transfer to your iOS device, right click and select Copy.
  3. Connect your iOS device to your PC with a USB cable. You may need to allow access on your iPhone or iPad when prompted.
  4. In File Explorer, navigate to Apple iPhone -> Internal Storage -> DCIM. Inside there may be multiple folders named XXXApple. Open the directory with the largest number.
  5. Paste the recordings into this directory.
  6. Wait for the recordings to finish copying and disconnect your iPhone or iPad from your PC.
  7. Open AliveDrive Race on your device, sign in and select the Import PDR files option from the menu.
  8. Follow the on-screen instructions.

Using an SD card reader accessory

Recordings can be copied directly from an SD card using the Apple Lightning to SD Card Camera Reader accessory for your iPhone or iPad.

iOS 13+ Devices
  1. Insert the SD card reader accessory into your iPhone/iPad and insert the SD card.
  2. Open the Files app and select the SD card from the list of Locations on the Browse tab.
  3. Select the recordings you wish to transfer and tap Move.
  4. Select On My iPhone -> AliveDrive Race, tap Copy and wait for the import to complete.
  5. Open AliveDrive Race on your device, sign in and select the Import PDR files option from the menu.
  6. Follow the on-screen instructions.
iOS 12 Devices
  1. Insert the SD card reader accessory into your iPhone/iPad and insert the SD card.
  2. If the Photos app doesn't automatically open, open it and navigate to the Import tab.
  3. Select the recordings you wish to transfer and tap Import, or tap Import All.
  4. Wait for the import to complete.
  5. Navigate to the Photos tab, select the imported recordings and tap the share icon (bottom left).
  6. Choose Save to Files, select On My iPhone -> AliveDrive Race and tap Add.
  7. Open AliveDrive Race on your device, sign in and select the Import PDR files option from the menu.
  8. Follow the on-screen instructions.

Analysis Outing Selection

What do the colored boxes represent?

This color represents the source outing.

This color represents the reference outing.

How do I select source & reference outings for analysis?

  • Tap any outing to select it as both the source & reference outing.
  • A long hold on any outing will allow it to be selected as the source or reference outing via a menu.
  • Swiping to the right on an outing will allow you to select it as the source via a context button.
  • Swiping to the left on an outing will allow you to select it as the reference via a context button.

Track Editing

How do I manipulate the start and/or finish lines?

Circuit tracks

  • Long hold anywhere on the track to reposition the start/finish line.
  • You can also change the length of the start/finish line. If an outing's course goes around (rather than through) the line, AliveDrive Race will not count it as crossing the line.
  • Tap Clockwise or Counter-clockwise to change the track's direction.

Autocross tracks

  • Tap the start or finish line to start manipulating it. The selected line is highlighted in green; initially, the start line is selected.
  • Tap Switch Direction to change the track's direction. This swaps the positions of the start and finish lines. You can also change the direction by repositioning the start line so that it follows the finish line (or vice-versa).

How do I manipulate the segments?

  • Tap any segment to start manipulating it. The selected segment is highlighted in green.
  • Long hold anywhere (between the start of the selected segment and the end of the next) to reposition the end of the segment.
  • You can also edit the segment's name.
  • Tap Straight or Corner to change the type of the segment.
  • Tap Split to split a segment down the middle; tap Merge with Next to merge a segment and the next one together.

General

What vehicles are supported?

Vehicles equipped with either the first-generation or the second-generation Performance Data Recorder (PDR) can have their recordings imported into and use tracks exported from AliveDrive Race.

The first-generation PDR is available on the following models:

  • 2015-2019 Corvette
  • 2016-2019 Cadillac ATS-V series & CTS-V series
  • 2017 and later Camaro

The second-generation PDR is available on the following models:

  • 2020 and later Corvette
  • 2022 and later Cadillac CT4 V-Series & CT4 Blackwing
  • 2022 and later Cadillac CT5 V-Series & CT5 Blackwing

How do I delete my AliveDrive account?

You can delete your AliveDrive account from within AliveDrive Race. Note that this will permanently delete your account and all related data, both from your device and from our system; it will not be possible to recover the account or data afterwards.

  1. Open AliveDrive Race on your device, sign in and select the Profile option from the menu.
  2. Select the Delete Account option.
  3. Follow the on-screen instructions.
